This chapter examines the role of libraries in digital research infrastructures against German, European and international policy developments. It distinguishes disciplinary services from shared infrastructure and discusses how data, software and open practices change the resources that libraries must organise. Horstmann argues that libraries should work closely with researchers, build methodological expertise and cooperate with computing centres to provide sustainable services across disciplines.
