The report examines how researcher identifiers and library authority files can connect scholars reliably with their outputs. Drawing on eighteen use cases, it compares the needs of researchers, funders, universities, librarians, identifier systems and aggregators, and surveys existing registration and profiling services. It identifies gaps between traditionally curated name authorities and the broader range of scholarly outputs covered by researcher identifier systems. Its recommendations address practical coordination and interoperability among these systems.
