Reconstructed abstract

This chapter traces the expanding role of libraries in open access from advocacy and repositories to publishing, research information, analytics and contract negotiation. It organises these activities as a service portfolio shaped by different routes to open access and by the varied needs of scholarly communities. Horstmann argues that open access shifts libraries towards the production as well as the distribution of research, requiring new skills and continuing changes in library services.
